Homebase stuff the Aussies (Bunnings)

We may have lost at cricket but we stuffed them good at DIY. Just to remind people Sainsburys bought Homebase as part of their Argos buy out and quickly found an enthusiastic buyer Wesfarmers

Firstly we conned them into paying too much so they had to write off £900m reducing their overall group profits by 85% and then they were left with loss making outlets and overpriced stock to sort out.
Next they'll find out that the uk is not au and the same product mix doesn't work, that copying BNQ isn't such a good idea as they aren't doing brilliant,(except screwfix) and finally uk retailing is being hit by higher wage costs, business rates, competition from www, lower customer disposable income and tightening of consumer credit so they are sailing into a headwind

Their IT is a bit iffy too

I had high hopes for bunnings but they well and truly f3cked up in their first year or so. Not enough portable heaters for one. perhaps they didn't realise that we need heating in the UK...
