Can someone tell me the thread size for lamp fittings. The ones where you screw rthe bulb holder onto a pipe.

It varies 
13mm or 1/2 inch is one size, there is also 10mm, I know Ikea seems to have a very large thread. There must have been an old British size, but been a long time since I have made a table lamp.
