Patching a hole

I want to patch a hole where a socket used to be with a piece of MDF so it can be plastered over. What method can I use to cut the wood to fit the hole exactly?

The best way is to fill the hole with some mortar and some small pieces of hardcore. Wet the hole well first to stop it sucking all the water out the mortar too quickly. Level off a few mil down to allow for the finish coat. Forget MDF, If it is a plasterboard wall then patch with some plasterboard

Mix up some bonding mix, bring 1-2mm below surface level then skim over. Dont use MDF the plaster wont adhere to it.
