Hello,
Our property had a big leak and has created damp which you can see in the picture. The wall is now dry but not in a good way. My landlord is sending around a decorator who I believe will sand the wall, apply some sort of damp treatment and then paint over it. Can anyone tell me if this is the right thing to do? If not, what would you recommend?

Re: Damp - your advice
waste of time unless leak is definitly fixed. best method is to cut out water damedged board and hack off solid plaster but LL might want a quick fix for now?

As said the leak must be fixed before anything else. A good decorator would prepare the surface, apply a stain block and then re-coat both walls and ceilings.
