I wish to convert my substantial carport into a garage.
The problem is is that the floor is tarmac and this forms part of the wider driveway.
I am told that water will seep up from the tarmac and make the garage damp. Thus the garage will not be waterproof.
Is there any way that the tarmac could be sealed such that water will not seep through it into the garage.
Thank You.

Re: Tarmac floor
Would any "layer" on top of the tarmac have to be several inches thick to be sound, so making it closer to the roof of the carport? (and a ramp to get on new layer) with that in mind would it not be better in the long run to take the tarmac up and lay new concrete?
