Tarmac floor

Post by parkgate » Thu Aug 03, 2017 7:21 am

I wish to convert my substantial carport into a garage.

The problem is is that the floor is tarmac and this forms part of the wider driveway.

I am told that water will seep up from the tarmac and make the garage damp. Thus the garage will not be waterproof.

Is there any way that the tarmac could be sealed such that water will not seep through it into the garage.

Thank You.

I cannot seem to post photos from the iPad.

I am buying a desk top next week - maybe I will have more luck!

Thanks.

If its attached to the house, does it need planning?

I think carports have to have 2 open sides..........

Would any "layer" on top of the tarmac have to be several inches thick to be sound, so making it closer to the roof of the carport? (and a ramp to get on new layer) with that in mind would it not be better in the long run to take the tarmac up and lay new concrete?
Fret not, a forum is a collection of opinions. Above, are mine.

Which is correct? Metre or Meter? Click the link to find out more.

Working on anything electrical? have you got a multi meter? why not? Would you hit a nail with a shoe?

If gloom had a voice, it would be me.
