Window Lock

Post by kubera »

Hi,

I have these type of handles on all my windows, a few of them have become loose so the handle needs tightening with the window frame.

Any ideas how to get the cap off so I can get to the screws?

Usually the handle screws are set down in counterbored holes that are covered with a push in cap (could be self adhesive). They should come out by gently prising.

The handle screws are generally M5 set screws that screw into threaded holes in the espag lock

As notch said they should come out by prising, get a thin blade or screwdriver down the side of them and hope for the best, they are almost always push fit. If you can't get down along side maybe worth trying push down on one edge and see if the opposite side swings out enough for you to get behind.
