Bathroom before during and after

This is the bathroom in the house where I currently live. I am not sure how much it costs to have a full bathroom ripped out and replaced including tiling and units etc. but this bathroom as cost about £1600

It has taken me a few weeks and much longer than expected due to unforeseen circumstances. I still have not finished the bathroom but as soon as I get more silicone it will be finished in a few hours. There are only some expansion gaps to seal and the bath panel to fit, plus a few handles and child locks to fit and then it is complete. It took much longer to do the bathroom as I filmed quite a lot of it, so that videos could be made for the site.

Before starting I often checked out the show case gallery to get inspiration and tips from other members. It's not up to Royaloakcarpentry's standard or Darrenba's but I am only a amateur

It looks better than it did before and that is what is important for me

This is what the bathroom looked like before-

After the tiles were removed and most of the sanitary ware it looked like this-

After knocking off all of the plaster and boarding out the wall, it looked like this after tanking-

Looks a very nice job.

Not nice having to fit stuff in at home with time limits etc. Still doing my kitchen and mostly ar5e about face so it is functional all the time.

Thanks,

It's PVC cladding with a chrome strip.

Because the ceiling was Artex I wanted something to hide it. I was looking for some Parador panels for the ceiling like this- bathroom-ceiling-t3868.html but B&Q no longer sell them and the alternative in B&Q looked crap.

The cladding is really easy to cut with a Stanley knife, but you have to be careful with the hole saw!

I originally ordered the cladding online with PVC coving to match but on the day they were supposed to deliver it I got an email saying it was out of stock, but luckily I managed to get it locally. I could not find PVC coving so I'm going to try sealing the expansion gap with silicone (which will be difficult as the chrome strips are indented)

Thanks,

I'll have a go with the silicone first and see if I can get that neat enough :thumbright:

Nice result and such a contrast since I watched the video of you sticking the plasterboard to the wall with the foam adhesive - I could see the terror in your eyes as you held it against the wall and it didn't appear to want to stick

We must of held it in place for 15 minutes LOL

Hence the screws and wall plugs the next day to make sure it did not fall off

My mate who helped me rip out the old bathroom knocked the plaster off the wall and I gave him a wire brush to brush down the bricks, but I don't think he did it very well  - hence the sticking problems :?

all that beautiful coving you took down in the old pic, was it original or repo polly.

nice job by the way, would a P shape have fitted into the alcove?

Looks good and a vast improvement on what it looked like before.

I watched the videos last night as I am going to be doing something similar soon. Thanks for taking the time to make them :salute:

The coving was repo and was about 12 years old. I had to remove it because it looks crap if you tile upto it.

You can't see from the pics yet but the bath is a L shaped bath, a P shaped would of fitted but the basin is square and so the L shape matches the basin.
