you have to keep paying your stamp for it to count 35 years is the minimum but your stamps must also be up to date
they will allow the odd few missing stamps and still call it up to date
i think the way it works is older contribution will drop off your records
if you register with the government gateway on line you can see you stamp payment shortfalls
and many other services run by the government

it will also tell you how many years off stamp that count as off today
