If it's just diy I would go for the 1.3ah batteries but buy a better charger. I use my 1.3s to power all my old Ryobi gear, including a recip saw for heavy pruning. So much lighter than the old nicads.

I think the Ryobi Kit is great value for money.

Keep an eye out at B&Q for deals on kits.

Also ebay can be a good place to top up your tool collection. Any ryobi one+ tool will work with the modern batteries, so even old blue ryobi stuff works just fine.

It's worth noting there are two types of Lithium battery, standard grey, and the Lithium+ Green ones with "fuel guage". The lithium+ ones give a bit more grunt, as they run at a higher voltage, but are fully backwards compatible with older tools. I think all of the 4.0Ah batteries are Lithium+, I guess the older 1.3Ah batteries are being cleared out by retailers now, so you might get a bargain.

Got home this evening to find my tools had arrived but it turns out I didn't get quite what I was expecting!

Thought I was getting Combi Drill, impact driver, 2 batteries and a charger...

So an extra battery, charger and two bags I wasn't expecting, rather chuffed with that, just wish I could get on with some diy now to try them out!

mark the batteries abc 123 what ever and note when you think a battery is performing well or getting charged a lot or charges slower or quicker as at least one will be better or worse

Just thought I'd update, having been hugely impressed with my drill and impact driver while building a side gate, I have been keeping a serious eye on ebay looking for bargains, missed out on quite a few...in particular circular saws...lol but have managed to bag myself a blue corner sander (which I've had a quick go with and am very impressed) and a blue fluorescent light which is great and have a Ryobi stud detector coming too (not one plus but could be very handy)

Really would like a jigsaw and a circular saw but waiting for bargains to crop up

the jigsaw i found could be a little disappointing on sheet material it was 2100spm[strokes per min]
it seemed to vibrate the sheet so a lot off the energy went into vibrating the boards rather than cutting
you can off course support the board well to avoid this problem
but off course battery tools by there nature tend to be used propped up against on a wall over a knee on top off a dustbin

just had a look my 18v dewalt is 3100spm
and the bosch 24v is 2100spm both cut fine
so maybe the stroke length

I shall bear that in mind... I'd just like a jigsaw that manages to hold the blade fairly straight, the one I have at the moment doesn't manage to do this and you end up cutting with the jigsaw at an angle to the line you're trying to cut which makes it difficult to keep it cutting where you want. lol

few jigsaws cut 100%
just line up the blade and ignore what the body is doing otherwise you will cut off line
remember a jigsaw blade in regular use should be changed frequently probably after cutting solidly for an hour or so even quicker on chipboard or worktops

That's what I try to do with my current jigsaw but it's really difficult as it ends up cutting at such an awkward angle following the line is really hard, it's literally at something like 30 degrees off straight.

I've been using reasonably good bladdes (well better than cheapo poundland ones at least) :) but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference...besides I want some more matching tools...lol ;)
