Aldi tools.

Hello all,
Are the electric tools sold in the Aldi supermarkets rebranded Scheppach tools? They seem identical both in looks and description.

Lots of tools are similar and often made to a price for a particular customer and labelled and badged up in their livery. I guess the same is true of many 'own' brands in supermarkets. I have had a few Aldi and Lidl tools over the years and all have held up well but in the main they have not been tools for a tradesmen who would use them day in say out.

In answer to your question it is entirely possible as I doubt Sheppach would turn down an order from Aldi, another large German company, to make a batch of tools for them.

Also, I bought it on-line from Aldi (didn't know when I could get there) free P&P if over £20 so I bought some disks too, delivery was 3 days (down side it was by Hermes, so if you have a crap local courier.......)
It feels and runs OK for the little time I've had it, has NVR switch and soft start too, sarky comments about 'just more to go wrong' have already been made by people who JUST have to make a comment to appear more knowledgeable about such matters ;-)

I ordered a 'suitcase size' dust extractor from Aldi, with a 'Workzone' brand logo according to their advert. When it arrived, both the unit and packaging plainly said 'Scheppach'. Apart from some specialised woodworking machines, most other of their products are Chinese made and badged Scheppach. The same products can also be bought badged 'Axminster' and other brands. These are usually the hobby spec rather than trade spec.

I have found Aldi power tools ok but their snips were clearly only for occasional use. Surely quality should matter more than brand. If it does the job, does it need to have Milwakee written on it?

Totally agree there, I don't care what the branding is as long as it does the job to an acceptable standard. Hardly any of my tools are fancy brands now but they all work well.

Not totally convinced that Scheppach are the best of suppliers. I took delivery of one of their tools and found pieces missing, so I emailed them with a warranty claim on 21st October requesting those parts to be delivered. They only replied last Wednesday to say that they would look at my claim. Another week on, and still nothing. This was a direct from Scheppach delivery.
