hairline crack reappears
i had a hairline crack in my ceiling, which i extended to about 1cm which i thought would be enough, but upon filling the crack and sanding, the crack has reappeared. is this likely to be due to me not having made the crack bigger or something else?

What size screws, at what centres, have been used to fix the ceiling?
Is the ceiling plaster board or plaster laths?
Has the ceiling previously been overboarded?
Are the loft/ceiling joists bare with no flooring or storage on them?
Do you know the section size of the joists and their span?
