Electric hob without worktop?

Post by jammy123 »

Hi
I am hoping to install an integrated oven & hob in the space where a freestanding cooker was. My question is: Can I fit the hob to the oven base unit without a section of worktop?(I am aware that this is not ideal, and may look bad, but is it possible?)

You really cannot mount it properly. Why not have a look in the sheds for offcut worktops and try and find something compatible. At least you can fit the hob properly and let it into the existing worktops. With a bit of luck you can find a bit that might be different but works.

I agree, they are designed to fit into a hole cut in the worktop, so you'd need to arrange something top-like in any case. There are usually manufacturer's requirements on minimum space around & below the hob as well, to avoid overheating the hob itself or things nearby.
