yes, i think most of the 8mm cutters i have are that style, as are the few 1/4" ones.

Never thought about teflon spray - how will that stuff help,. big-all ?

reduces friction
cleaner cuts less build up on cutters
if you get resin or anything sticky on the surface that will grip the router base it reduces that as well
we are all ------------------still learning

Yes, they are so fine that with large diameter cutters you invariably get slipping on heavy cuts and spirals can pull out completely in heavy cuts. In engineering terms they are simply a bodge and need to be used with care, ensuring that the cutter shank, reducer and collet are all clean and rust free and they need to be tightened carefully. Just a personal opinion, mind you, although I'm far from alone in holding it

to be fair i have seldom if at all used a 1/4 cutter in 1/2" reduction sleeve as i have enough routers to match the weight and power to the job
i just assumed if hitachi where happy it was a reasonable practice :lol:
we are all ------------------still learning
