self cutting tap internal washer

i have a self cutting tape on a cold mains. the kind with the little plastic lever, lately when u turn off the water with the lever, there's a slight drip from the spigot, i have to put a bowl underneath..i assume you cannot change out the internal washer, funny thing is.. sometimes it will stop dripping, i do not want to push the lever to hard, as it will obviously snap off, could use pliers i guess, do i need a whole new tap ?

Is it designed to take mains pressure?

If it is what I think it is (could do with a pic) then these are cheap.

Turn off at stopcock or in the road and just replace it, about £4 at screwfix https://www.screwfix.com/p/self-cutting ... lsrc=aw.ds

I used these when retro fitting a washing machine for example.

thats what i thought, pretty cheap as you say, pity you cannot take out the washer inside and just replace that..£4 quid no biggie.

The only problem with trying to do a like for like straight swap is that you would have to replace the piece of pipe that the valve was cut into because I doubt that you would get a good seal. But I could be wrong.

Mike the hole size will be the same and the replacement should seal fine.

Either way it's cheap enough to try, I certainly would do so as no cutting (at that stage is needed)
