How to Remove/replace plastic shower wall outlet?

Post by HomeDIYMan »

Hi Folks
Just joined (complete novice to this and plumbing!) and this is my first post.

I have an old Trevi Showerhead/BodyJet setup which all works fine, but I want to replace the wall outlet for cosmetic reasons (I know - if it works don't fix it! :-) ).

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be a simple unscrew connector. Its a PLASTIC wall outlet with the flange broken off. The internal pipe had a single notch in it (I added another notch to try unscrewing it...but didn't want to put too much pressure on to through fear of just breaking the plastic pipe, or the pipework behind)

It's obviously connected to a metal (brass?) pipe somehow (see inside).

Any idea if it should come off and if I can just replace it with something like a 40mm 1/2" elbow wall connector (brass/chrome)
Cheers for any advice folks!

there is no telling what backing plate/elbow has been used but the shower is an old Trevi A4100 (410) the notch is just for locating the attachment

an ideal standard outlet should do the trick https://www.showerdoc.com/ideal-standar ... me-e4705aa

Thank you for working out the model Bob. Yes I'd seen the outlet on showerdoc.
So do you feel I should persist in twisting the old plastic fitting out e.g. drilling a hole through the plastic tube for a thin bar, and using the bar to twist it out?
Bob (also :) )

i wouldn't like to say as if all goes wrong you are replacing the elbow in the wall, requiring the tile to be removed then having to find a tile may be an issue
