Leak under sink

Post by KeithLink »

Hi,

Delighted there is an active community here and sorry to bore you with something very basic. My sink has been leaking from round about the black bit shown here:

It doesn't seem to leak out as much when the water drains very slowly, but if I certainly if I fill a sink and let it drain there is always a problem.
I'd be delighted for any advice or even just something like the name of the part with the problem,

Many thanks
Keith

Hold the grey plastic waste bit with one hand to stop it rotating (or get someone else to do if it's too awkward) and at the same time do up the bolt in the middle of the plug hole (when viewed from the top side of the sink). Should be a nIce easy fix.

take the strainer out of the sink and check the screw. itll likely be loose. unscrew that and also unscrew the waste from the underside (the white trap) remove the grey part and the rubber. clean it all up and use some clear silicone on the grey part. then put the rubber back and a bit more clear silicone on the top part then screw them all back together.

Just wanted to say thanks, I honestly had no idea how a sink worked. Seems fine now.
