Water Based Satin

Hi All,

After a bit of advice.

I am painting 4 french doors, frame and architrave in my downstairs kitchen/diner.

The doors were fitted pre primed, the architrave is bare pine and the frame is original.

The frame has a gloss finish on it and this has a yellow tint to it.

Based on the research I have done, I have the following approach in mind to get them looking spot on:

BIN Zinsser on architrave and frame x 1 coat
Johnstone Aqua undercoat x 1 over the lot
Johnstone Aqua Satin x 2 over the lot

Would welcome any feedback on this approach.. I’m after a nice white, long lasting finish without having to use oil based paints.

My house is quite narrow and long so natural light doesn’t really hit the centre of the house. I used QD satinwood Once, all over my skirting 2 year ago and this is starting to yellow.

It is my choice of paint combination for a job like that. See my tips link in blue below which may help in some regards.

Out of curiosity, each french door has 4 panes of glass, what steps would you take to ensure you don’t get paint on the glass when cutting in?

I am crap at cutting in, I mask up or scrape overpaint when it is set. One point to note is that Aqua takes a while to harden if you use the paint and scrape method. I am not a pro painter.
