How to refinish crown molding edge?

Post by MQ88 »

Hi all,

I am really new to DIY and need some help, I have recently pulled down the wallpaper from master bedroom of the house I bought but I can still see some of the old paint and wallpaper at the edge of the crown molding. What is the most easiest way to finish it to prepare it for paint? I tried removing it with scrappers and water but it wasn't enough to remove it all. I have attached a picture on how it looks .

Would really appreciate some advice on this.

Thanks in advance

It is usual to run some decorators filler along the joint and this will hide the cracked bits and give you a paint line. To get it real level you could use a multitool to cut it slightly to make it level. I would not bother as the filler will make it look neat. The residue paper can be sanded off when dry. Here is an example of what you need https://www.screwfix.com/p/nemesis-migh ... 10ml/4774j and https://www.screwfix.com/p/p-c-cox-easiflow-gun/79714

Firstly I would put a straight edge against the moulding and trim the ragged edges off with a stanley or cutoff knife then fill afterwards.
