Starter motor issue??

Post by paulscholes »

Ford fiesta 2007 1.3 petrol
Started with flat battery that wouldn't charge up (whilst connected to car) so bought a new one. Connected positive and when connected negative it started turning over (no key in ignition). So thinking it was a stuck solenoid on the starter motor I got a new one under warranty as it was only 6 months old. Fitted new starter, connected battery and started it up a few times and I thought job done. I then went outside a few hours later to here a quite whirring noise from the car. The starter was hot and so disconnected the battery.
What is the next check or issue, please help 😁

The start relay is prob sticking, you have a bad ignition switch or wiring fault
