I've got the same one Handyman, it is very good with a nice clean cut and smooth plunge action. Proved invaluble for a recent kitchen fitting, nice square cuts for the sink and hob, but laminate worktop did kill the blade.

this is where i love "fitters world"
with a normal £30 frueid pro blade you get several worktop cuts and a £5 resharpen charge up to 5 times so £60 for the eqivilent off 6 new blades plus postage or running around
fitters world blades do around 80% then throw away so all in all you get simmilar cutting capacity for a simmilr price with no down time for trips

yes
if its important you need to be carefull as the ends need to be tight to ensure a gaurenteed strait edge
most times on 8ft sheets i just do 3 marks cut to the centre with a 1.5m rail
move the track to the other marks using stationary saw plunges to line up perfectly in the centre

i store the bar in the slot off the second rail so its there when i need it

I'm not sure what you mean Big, can't you just attach the second rail? it sound as if the joint wouldn't render a perfect cut. If I understood correctly you cut to the centre then move the rail?

I have the 1.5 metre and was going to buy the 2.5m then saw the attaching bar and though perhaps an additional 1m would give me more flexabilty as this would be handier for most cuts but adding the 1.5 with the bar would enable longer cuts.

ok the rubbers may need trimming so the ends butt up tight
3m off track is unweildy and awkard
butt up the ends without the screw hole as these can get in the way when you tighten the grub screws
a1mm gap between the track ends could easily turn to several mm out if you dont have 3 points off reference [measured points]

if you do cut a short bit dont forget the 8 to 10" overhang you need at the start for the machine to clip on
would suggest if you cut 1.15m off the track that will give you 2.65m thats 2440 plus 8 1/2 inches for the saw to sit on

nothing wrong with clipping 2 together its just for single one offs moving the track is much quicker
