Breather Membrane or DPM?
Im currently converting my garage into a man cave. Its an outbuilding with single skinned block walls. Im looking at battening straight onto the walls then placing celotex type insulation in between with plasterboard on top. What type of barrier should I stick on to the block before the battens, does it have to be a breather membrane or because there is no cavity can I get away with a plastic DPM?

Personally I'd consider using some sort of waterproofing product on the inside of the garage wall (take a look at Terraco Weathershield), almost as if you were tanking a basement. This would keep the moisture on the outside face of the garage wall and you could then batten and insulate as planned. Contact the manufacturer first to discuss your plans to make sure it's appropriate for this use?
If you used DPM I imagine moisture/condensation would eventually collect between the brick and the DPM and gravity will force it down to the floor... resulting in damp problems there.
