What cable do I need?

Post by Argyll »

I want to run a cable from my router in my living room to my bedroom upstairs. This is to connect my Amazon Firebox via ethernet. The best method is to run it externally. What cable do I need? Is it CAT 6? I have quite a long run of this but it's white which I presume is only for internal use?

Cat5e cable will do the trick, colour has nothing todo with its use - you need external grade cable eg. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/External-CAT ... SwNp1bw3gj

If you dont want to run a cable powerline adapters will be perfect for this situation

eg. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TL-PA4010PKIT- ... 01G5Q9E0O/

I will update sortly with some links

I'd much prefer the cable rather than the adapters.

all you need is 2 face plates, 2 back boxes and the external cable a punchdown tool will help no end

If you dont want a full size faceplate you can get a surface mount one unless your going to just terminate into a plug
