Gas Meter Bonding

Post by Mick Coleman » Mon Feb 12, 2007 4:36 pm

i have just had a new Gas meter fitted outside the gas man told us we need to get it bonded.
i live in a bungalow has the earth wire got to be bonded to the cold water pipes,
do i just strap it from the gas pipe to the nearest water pipe ?
and what part of the gas meter do i come off

Thanks

You need to bond BOTH the water pipe & the gas pipe back to the earth bar at your consumer unit using 10mm earth cable. the earths should be attached within 600mm of the meter outlet for the gas.

the connection, using the approved earth clip, must be within 600mm of meter outlet, then teh cable can be any length back to the comsumer unit. did you read UHM's link?
