Looking to get a new desktop, but most I have seen don't have what I would like, or they are extortionate as they have much more than I want. Yesterday I found a "we build it for you" site, and it didn't allow me to change that much and ended up being around £1500 (Seen gaming pcs less than that)

Question, have you recently been on a build it for you website and was happy (ish) if so which one?

Yes I know I can diy Like uncle carry says, but not sure where to get parts from, and Amazon is just a shop front.

I haven't bought a complete machine, but I've bought a MB "ready to go" with processor and memory a couple of years ago from these people, and a graphics card a couple of months back.
Prices seem competitive, and everything ordered has arrived promptly.

My nipper usually uses ebuyer, I'm pretty sure that all the bits for this PC came from them.

i used to build desktop machines, when they had computer fairs most months in the area and purchased parts from them and if local the shops.
Things have changed a bit now.
However, a few places i used to buy from are still open, these are the main 2 i used

i have built 100's if not 1000's of machines over the years, the last 5 years or so the margins have become so tight on the entry to mid-level that it doesn't make sense to build in low numbers, I only build for friends and family and the odd bespoke machines

I Get it if someone wants an out of the box experiance with out building them selfs

There is a little shop in Ayr that builds nice machines to order https://www.kustompcs.co.uk/ they have been around for years and were the only place around at one time when pc's modding/overclocking was not mainstream

I too used to go to the local computer fair to buy parts and build PC's but for the time and effort I am happy to let some one build it and g'tee it for me.

My only "problem" is which one to get, I am going to write it all down on paper and see which is best.

Even though I have several pc's I still like "a bit of paper"

This is an old post now, but I read the comments left, can I please ask why you preferred a desktop over a laptop?
I like others, in the past used to build PC's but as mentioned the margins over the last 10 years were so tight it became worthless, unless it was so high end (gaming) and even then, the big boys had similar specs at only ££ less than your bespoke price.
I went laptop linked via HDMI to a 40" screen, wireless mouse and keyboard.
Laptop has this.

Its a good machine and is easily on the go (just disconnect the HDMI feed and power feed)
and its a lap top again rather than a desktop that is stationary

Just asking why PC over a good laptop
I love hard work, I could watch it all day
