It is difficult to limit it to five but here goes,
Hammer
Axe
Chisel
Plane
Handsaw
and i know it's six but i'd add a pencil too.
In my pockets i've normally got my SAK , a pencil , a lighter and sometimes a pair of pliers , mobile and cash

Why is it when you put the exact number of nails / screw in your pocket and climb a ladder your always short one only for it to turn up later.
There was a story in a magazine many years ago about it. Apparently there's this little bloke who follows you around and removes stuff that will make things inconvenient for you, only to either place it just out of reach, or return it later.
Can't remember much about it apart from that, but every time the same sort of thing happens to me, I imagine the little git laughing at me.
this is why ever bag or kit box has at least 2 pencils in
every kit box has a stanley 5m tape in it as well as 4 in the workshop
i also have a mug that has a minimum 50 sharp hb pencils
i also have a minimum off 2 off any tool so if i misplace one i have another
we are all ------------------still learning
