Multi Tool Sanding Pads (non-melting!)

Post by Croker »

Hi, I recently purchased some multi tool sanding pad attachments from ebay. They look pretty decent but only last about 10 mins before starting to melt!

I guess it's just cheap construction, but it seems to be so difficult these days when buying stuff online (especially ebay); it's pure chance if you happen to score something legit / decent quality.

Can anyone recommend me a decent supplier / manufacturer of pads that won't melt please? Obviously nothing lasts for ever but surely a bit more than 10 minutes use isn't too much to ask!

Just for clarity it's the solid triangle shaped piece which attaches directly to the multi tool that I'm after; not the actual Velcro-backed sandpaper pads.

Many thanks :salute:

You need to keep moving so it doesn't heat up, yep velcro isn't great, i have tried the expensive and the lower end pads and bases its all much of a muchness

saxton blades are worth a try http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/saxtontrading

I haven't come across any self adhesive ones

Cheers Bob :thumbright:

Come to think of it I have a set of Saxton cutting blades and they're ok so their sanding pad could be worth a look.

The annoying thing is that it's so handy being able to sand with a multi tool... and yet so frustrating when the pad starts to melt or the Velcro keeps working loose!

I've had the same issue and have even resorted to using 3M VHB Velcro, you can get the 4 and 6 inch self-adhesive sanding discs and cut it to shape

In the workshop I tend to use roloc sanding pads with a drill or die grinder
