Scheppach Bargain ?

Just bought this Scheppach Bandsaw from a user on Shpock. He had it advertised for 50 pound, and after a bit of haggling i bought it for 30. After a quick web search it seems they are going for a lot more. Checked it out and everything is working just fine, cuts great, straight and true.

What does anyone else thing, Bargain, Bust or not worth the 30.

Certainly worth £30. Sold with a variety of names (and varying specifications, for example the Ax one has a cast table) from Aldi/Lidl to Axminster. All a lot more than even £50 though

yep i have the axminster version cost a ton on special although its a bit different as it has a track on the front and back edges for the fence to run along
excellent saw just make sure you set it up properly for accuracy

Good to know. It didn't come with any paperwork/ manual so, any pointers ?.

Axminster is a cast iron top and bearing guides. That is a big difference.

yes possibly

the scheppach seems to have the two side pins and possibly the back bearing that should aid the accuracy off the blade

I bought one here in France a couple of months ago, identical to your model but as said under a different name, about £70 new, I just use it for model making. the hardest part was setting it up I had to buy a book which helped, as yours is pre used you may not have this problem. It cuts straight as long as you let the blade do the work, the clamped straight edge does not always do as its told, so I have to measure from the edge of the table, this is one, drawback as it doesn't have a sliding mitre channel, as I said I only use it model making so thickest wood I have cut is 15mm, so yes Iam happy with it. Yes it does. There two 2 side pins and a rear guide bearing on the top section above the table and 2 guide pins below the table. The only thing i cant figure out is how tight the blade should be. Im thinking over tight and it could snap, too slack and it will jump off the top and bottom wheels.

i just loosened the side pins
let the blade center its self
pushed one pin till it touches the blade side remove any finger pressure and tighten the grub screw
check the blade sits lightly on the pin with no gap or blade bend off the pin
push the other loose pin till it touches remove finger pressure and tighten the grub screw
check it free running but no gap for say a sheet off paper to pass through
