Pushed the boat out at Lidl
Following a lead from Argyll, I called in at Lidl today to have a look at the cordless Dremel lookalike. I bought one as the fact that it is cordless will make it much easier for tool sharpening etc. At £17 it is great value with a nice case, charger, and extra bits and stuff. I was tempted on lots more of their bargain gadgets but contented myself on an LED Magnifying glass on a stand with subject holding clips which will be useful as I always struggle with small stuff and splinter removal these days. Well worth a look in whilst they have the stock. I am a sucker for tools in there

I was tempted by a few but resisted. Grub screw assortment is new and very good value. The replaceable blade snips look good, I already have a similar set and love them.

I went in Thursday evening.
Dremel lookalike, two storage drawer units, and some polishing bits and flap wheels for the rotary tool.
Likewise I'm a sucker for the tools in there!
Interestingly, the collet nut looks to be the same thread as the Dremel. Collar's a different thread though.

IIRC I paid more than that for my corded Dremel, as a kit with a flexible drive and quite a few cutters. Must have been around 20 years ago.
To be fair it's done lots of work, and is still OK. I just wanted the handiness of the cordless.

I used it this morning doing a little grinding. I chanced it as it had a minimal factory charge but it did me long enough before running out. It lacks a little wuumph of the mains type but it is so handy being unencumbered by the cable.

One of my (two) Dremels has a mains lead that's so stiff you don't need to hold the body of the machine, just dangle it by the cable and aim it! Keep meaning to fit one of those extra-flexi wires. I have no idea why it's got a cable rated for a woodsplitter on a device that consumes around 120 watts!dewaltdisney wrote: ↑Sun Oct 18, 2020 1:33 pm but it is so handy being unencumbered by the cable.

Mine's like that as well. I've changed the leads on a few tools, but never got around to the Dremel.
