Makita MLT100 table saw not starting

Post by HendoMan566 »

I recently picked up a second hand table saw, which I used to rip some sheets no problem. However when cleaning up the saw and checking the brushes for wear, having replaced the brushes the motor won't now start.
I've checked and all the cabling and switches are connected, and I took the motor housing off in case there was sawdust or dirt in the motor but if all seems clear.
I believe I've reattached the brushes properly, having found some YouTube videos showing what to do, but I'm at a loss.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

New brushes, with springs a bit longer than the old ones?

Hi, the first time it tried to fire and stopped. There was a small flash. Then nothing
The new brushes are Makita, according to the schematic I managed to locate

Sounds to me like the brushes aren't right down the brush box.
I looked at the YouTube thing about changing them, they're the type with a big plastic screw on the outside?
Make sure the tube they fit down is clean and the brushes slide easily right down to the bottom.

Yup, but the socket and the plug fuse are the first places to look.
I've never been caught out that way, not ever, not even once. . .
