Well I broke my own rules

Post by Cannyfixit »

I’ve always maintained my tools and only lend out my cheaper tools
Last weekend I lent my Rabone combination square to a friend,I know I can hear yall yelling at me .
Anyway the inevitable as happened,he left the square outside over night and it got all rusty .
He has tried to clean the ruler with a sander and has worn off the markings.
He his very apologetic and has replaced the square with one from Toolstation however my square is 40 years old
I’ve done some Googling but it seems you cannot just buy the ruler on its own
Have you guys any leads as to where I can obtain just the ruler part
I have explained to him that it’s going to be a lot more costly if I can’t just buy the ruler .

I feel for you, I would be most upset if that happened to me. As I always say 'no good deed ever goes unpunished' and have I found that to be true over my life.

Ouch!
Like DWD, I've found that "No good deed ever goes unpunished" is true, which is a pity.

I'd try not to fall out with the friend over it, and keep looking on eBay for a replacement.

Just had a thought, will a Starrett blade fit?
https://www.starrett.co.uk/shop/precisi ... m_id=BH687

There are various sizes of blade there by the look of it, in the drop down box under the main description. I was looking at them a month or so back.
Expensive though!
