Name for Tool/Key?
Good day,
I was wondering if anyone knew then name for this type of tool/key? I have a gate at home with a removed lock handle and we turn the lock using the key pictured. However I would like to buy more, smaller ones that could fit on a key ring but I'm not sure what it is called to search for...
The end of the key is squared and tapered so I push it into the lock up till a point that it fits and then turn the lock.
I hope that description and the picture makes sense!
Thanks!

Tapered square key. Not sure if you'll find one of a normal key size to go on a key ring, they mostly are T shaped to provide some drive to the square.
The old upright Ford Pops had one for a boot key. I still have one of those and used to use it when the painters used to take all the door handles off.I never got stuck in a room then scrabbling for a few nails to stuff the spindle hole to open the door.

One day it will all be firewood.

Yeah that's it, thanks for that. Unfortunately not been able to find a smaller version I could put on my keys.
Those tapered squares keys would also do the job, but unfortunately likewise also a bit big for the pocket.
No doubt they are that size as you say to provide the torque for tougher locks. Mine is very easy to turn however!

It’s the sort of thing that goes in the toolbox rather than on a key ring unless you use it everyday.

Yeah that's the problem, I need to get through the gate most days, it's not my property though and the owner doesn't want me to change anything so a small key would have been the easiest solution!

Make one out of mild steel?
File / grind the square on the end of a bit of round bar, and weld a washer to the other end.

I think even that might be a bit too long/broad to keep in my pocket with my normal keys unfortunately.
I was thinking making one could be the answer, could even cut one of the plastic cam turners then screw a small handle into the end of it.

If you can get a bit of square bar the right size, an old lock spindle might do it, then it should be easy enough to make something.

Thanks, that's very generous of you to offer, unfortunately where I live in Germany is on full lock down at the moment so I wouldn't be able to get anything 3D printed (I've never had anything 3D printed actually...)
It's a very good idea though and it will be my plan B if my current plan of cutting down the end of a Euro key and attaching a thumb screw to it doesn't work!
