I'm after some advice please. I have a Vaillant ecotec pro 28 combi boiler. Recently this stopped working completely and everytime it started up it would shut back down again with a strong smell of gas. I was advised to have the pressure sensing switch, filling loop assembly and automatic air vent replaced and they apparently also reset the pressure to the pressure vessel.

Days afterwards the boiler developed a new and intermittent fault and became noisy on operation. The same contracter went back and has turned around and described it as noise or chatter on the valve said that I now need a new diverter valve and that it might be something to do with the soelnoid.

I'm not happy with this answer and feel like I'm being fobbed off. Reading online it seems like sludge is a more likely cause. Am I being reasonable? Should the contracters have cleaned the system following their works to make sure they hadn't released any debris into the system. Should they have disassembled the valve to see if it was being blocked by sludge?

Simple answer to all your questions is No.

It may be the auto bypass valve if it is a buzzing noise like a bee.
