Vax power 4 review

I know I normally review power tools but I could just not resist reviewing the VAX power 4 vacuum cleaner.

Good points

The vacuum is very powerful and does a good job of cleaning in most places.
It’s bag less so you can just remove the rubbish compartment and empty it into the bin.
It’s very cheap to buy compared to other makes.
The power cord is long (about 10 metres I think)

Bad points

The Vacuum uses so much power that when you switch it on the lights in the house flicker.

It’s about as noisy as a jet engine. Although I do not have equipment for measuring noise levels I am sure that this vacuum should come with a health warning.

The power cord enters the vacuum at the bottom of the machine, meaning that you constantly trip over it or run over it with the vacuum.

It’s heavy ( not for me ) for the girlfriend, especially if you want to vacuum the stairs.
The machine is extremely top heavy and as soon as you use the vacuum hose the damn thing tips over, this is a really bad design especially if you left it at the top of the stairs.
The vacuum hose seems to have stretched so much that you can't wrap it around the dedicated hangers without it flapping loose.

The on/off switch is in the most stupid place ever.
When in use the vacuum blows out so much hot air that you end up chasing the dirt around the room.

Seems like more bad points than good..

How does it compare on price to it's likewise competitors? Would you buy one again?..

I would not buy one again, I would not have bought it in the first place

The noise annoys me, the cable too close to the ground annoys me and the fact that it’s top heavy and falls over all the time annoys me.

I think if I were to buy a vacuum it would be a Dyson as they are good vacuums and very easy to fix if they go wrong

Panasonics new bagless kit is worth a look, though you have to keep the hepa filter clean otherwise it fails to clean very well.....plus the bin is tiny...then again the dog sheds like mad.
Oh and its cheaper than a Dyson, though I like the design of Dysons more.....though £120 difference in price swayed my decision.....

Just measured the sound level from this Vacuum and it's between 82-85 decibels during use
