Hi guys, woukd anyone be kind to detail, step by step, how to recharge an expansion vessel? I have a 21 years old Vaillant Turbomax 242, the expansion vessel is 8 litres. At the moment I had 2 attempts and it didn't go very well, the pressure droped back to 0 after one cycle. I had it done last year by a plumber and it was quite allright for 8-9 months, but now, because I don't know how to do it it's just a mess. I had an engineer who had a look at it last week and advised straight away to change the expansion vessel and the flue, but since he was booked in by the insurance company(emergency cover), I suppose he gave me the easy and more expensive option. The emergency cover does to apply to boilers older than 8 years so that means that I will have to sort it out.

Could I get some help please?

Regards,

Daniel

It is quite a job to exchange the original expansion vessel. You can connect an external expansion vessel quite simply and cheaply have a look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhgOI4U5DQo
