New member here. Having trouble with Vaillant Turbomax Plus boiler. No heating but I do have hot water occasionally. I had a leak from a drain valve which I thought was the problem. I've fixed that and still have the problem. I checked pressure which was on 1.0 - amended it and it's now 3.0! Which I think is too high. How do I reduce pressure but mainly what might be wrong with heating? Cheers.

Drain some water from the drain valve, back down to 1.2 bar.

The heating problem will most likely need a RGI in to set the boiler up.

Either drain from drain off or you can discharge from a bleed valve on a rad. Between 1 - 1.5bar is sufficient.

Whether you have always had this problem or is just occured, best to get the boiler/wiring checked by registered heating engineer. :-)

How did the pressure get to 3bar.

Did it start at 1bar and shoot up when you turned the heating on.

I adjusted the pressure by using the key which is awkward and by the time I turned it off the pressure read 3bar

Just lower the pressure as above in that case, either bleed all the rads a few times or drain from a draincock with a hose or small vessel.

Do not use the PRV in the boiler

Thanks thescruff and the others. That's the pressure sorted! It's back down to 1.5bar. It hasn't kickstarted the heating though so the two weren't linked. And now the water gone cold :dunno:

Hi! :welcomeuhm:

I'd suggest you call an engineer out to help you sort it out. Especially with the weather we've been having recently, no heat is the last thing I think I could cope with! Good luck!
