Hi

An American neighbour who has since returned to the States gifted me with some wall lights, they are very pretty so have stuck them in the hall. They seem to have a slightly different size screw fitting from the local lights (EU small - we are in the pyrenees mountains).

Two of the fittings came with converters, leaving 2 sockets without. So I need to get these converters off the 'net. I've been round all the local shops (which have limited stocks of even basic light bulbs) so its got to be the 'net.

Please can someone help me with what these converters would be called and from what size, the US size (probably some bastardised Imperial measure I'd guess) and the EU size, so I order specifically.

I've attached photos with sizes in CMs.

Thanks!

ben

File comment: I need two more of these. What are they called exactly?

Well, the rest of the world uses millimetres! :-). What you've almost certainly got is US candelabra lampholders, which are just a little smaller than a European SES thread. The Candelabra base is known to the rest of the world as an E12, whereas the SES is officially an E14. The converters in use are E12 to E27 adaptors, which allow you to use a standard ES-base bulb. Google for E12 to E27 adaptor and you'll find hundreds of them on ebay for under £1 with multipacks much cheaper.

You're welcome! And glad that you can now use your lights. You can find all sorts of bizarre adaptors for a nominal sum if you know what you're looking for.
