Hi

I have a extractor fan in my small bathroom, the ducting pipe goes to the edge of the attic where my sofit meets, on the end of the ducting tape is a plastic square shape.

I got a local handyman to install this, now what I didn't know was the square plastic shape has not been fixed to mu upvc soft. I have been advised I need to cut a hole in the sofit and screw down the square plastic shape.

I picked up on this because I recently got my bathroom window double glazed and there was water build up in the sofit.

How do I go about making a small hole? I'm thinking 5-7cm x 5-7cm would be sufficient? Do I just use a hand jigsaw blade? Elecric saw?

I would probably use a hole saw.

Hi

If my ducting pipe is 10cm in diameter, how large should I make my hole saw?

Hi

Do I just need the below to make this work? How can I confirm this harbor thing will connect to my drill? I have a electric power drill.

To get the best from your extractor the hole should be such that the airflow from the duct pipe is not restricted.

If you have an electric drill with a half inch chuck , pretty much any hole saw will fit, just make sure that the saw is the correct size for the arbor.

Upvc soffit is not particularly difficult to cut, a padsaw would probably do at a pinch.

If you have some sort of cover-plate to fit over the hole you could just stitch drill a hole with a small twist bit.

110mm or so. just take the grate to somewhere that sells hole saw (electric shops sell them) and compare which is too big or too small.

you need to have enough room to get the flexi through aswell. a 100mm one can make it awkward
