Hello guys,

I have some double glazing for my Bay windows ready to install later this week. They are A rated windows, and i guess normal white uPVC windows. I have been told i am welcome to inspect the windows before they are installed so i am happy.

The thing is i don't have a clue to go down to the workshop and to look at them. I guess i am worried if they give me C rated instead of A rated etc etc and make sure they are sealed so they don't mist like my current Aluminium windows.

Has anyone got any suggestions when i go to the inspection to look out for and ask??

[attached is the bay windows]

:dunno: Can't read the specs there..assume that the installers are either FENSA registered, or BC are certifying..

...The other thing with bay windows is getting the right support through the uprights...get it wrong and anything above the bay will slowly collapse..

It's not your responsibility to confirm the windows are up to specification.

You purchase the windows on the understanding that they are fit for purpose.
If they don't perform it is the responsibility of the supplying company to correct any issues.

You agreeing they are satisfactory could reduce your claim if they fail to perform, I would visually inspect but not sign anything to confirm the fact.

How can you check that they're what you paid for, especially with the ratings? Had mine put in two months ago and now I realise I only really have their word that they're A-rated (I know I should just trust them but i'd rather see the proof with my own eyes!)

If i am right most sealed units these days have the date and name of manufacturer on the silver strip in between the glass which you can read, there should be a kitemark and a BS number and a date, there should also be stickers on the glass stating who made it, which way round to install, and what type of glass it is, all of this info should tell you what you need to know.
