:hello2: To anyone who can help .
Well i bought a £1.99 universal 5 in 1 remote for my son's tv today,
no instructions :cb.
i have the instruction manuel to set up the tv'
his remote has been broken for ages, and he is always on the ps3 on the tv'
i just need this remote so he can use his freeview again'

this new remote has no coloured buttons,
and where the (ok) button should be in the centre it says mute above it and ch-
below ......so would i press the middle for (ok)
hope this make's sense as im quite confused
thank's if anyone can help
cheers :-)
thought i would add the actual remote confused me as there where so many functions on it, so if i can get this one to work the built in digital freeview tv part would be brilliant  Ta.

as far as i know you have to "program" the controler they don't just work any telly out the box

do you have other tellies in the house especially similar type [tv video tv dvd for example]the can look completely different and be by different manufacturers and still work other tellies i have 2 tv videos the same and have had 3 tellies using the same remote years apart so try other remote controls even the ones in the back off drawers :thumbleft:

No instructions! either take it back or bin it , at £1.99 not a great loss if the shop is far away.

Those remotes should come with full instructions and a full list of all codes used by different TV manufacturers.
For example it will list about six code numbers for Philips TVs so you follow the instructions and use the first code, then see if the volume and channel buttons work. If not, you try the second code and so on until you get the right one that makes all the buttons work.

Or try this site for a pre programmed one:

If no joy try variations like 'TV remote set up'

There is a device called 'TV-B-Gone' which can be purchased fitted into a baseball cap and has the ability to turn off EVERY TV set withiin its range - ideal for that quiet drink in the pub. Just don't get caught when the footy is on....
