Yes, I've been over a few times, but not for a few years.
Bruce Anstey went through the speed trap today at 194mph. To win now you need to average 132mph over 37 miles of back lanes

Never been, and probably won't now. Usually watch some of it on TV, but haven't yet this year. I'll record some if I can.
It is indeed barking mad! :)
Real road racing that takes nerves of steel as well as the skill to ride at that speed.
I think that most modern motor racing has become bland somehow. (for want of a better word)
The TT certainly isn't bland!
132mph average is amazing. With those roads they have to be doing 190 wherever they can.

Its one of the very few international sporting events which is still free to watch too.
There is one place where I used to watch from called Hillberry. You lay in the grass at the roadside with your head poking over the top of a low stone wall, but don't lean out too far because the bikes come past your head - literally two feet away - at 185 mph!
For one split second you are looking straight into the riders eyes - its terrifying!
Can't think of any other event where you get so close to something going so fast.

A guy I work with goes over every year, in fact he’s there now. He told me there’s a tight bend somewhere that has a road sign at the apex of the bend. He said the riders have to tuck their head in at this bend otherwise your head would hit the post!

He’s a nutter on a bike and he said he doesn’t even get close to their times.

I'll be having a bit of that next year...Not the racing of course

Anyone watched the documentary 'Closer to the edge'...Basically follows Guy Martin (Great chap - TT racer), around the 2010 TT. What a belting watch (< Youtube). Highly recommended :thumbright:

Yet, bunch of nutters :-) I really hope the race carries on for many years!!

Yes we watched that "Closer to the edge" a bit back. He's a character for sure. :-)
Been watching the "Speed" thing with him in it. That's good too.
