Recently got the trend fastrack sharpening system and im impressed with it.Very consistent cutting edges with it and i can see the old faithful india stone gathering dust.
The fatmax chisels are really proving to be good chisels so i thought they neededa decent sharpening stone or similar.Tried this in the shop and bought it as was very impressed with it.
Its going to be great for the trainee to use as there is nothing to learn really.

While i was in there i also tried a Hinge pro tool for fast cutting of hinges.Another simple to use product but i personally dont do enough new doors to warrant its price tag of £100 when i can use a router or chisels.

ahhhh ive heard of the hinge pro tool. just couldnt remember its name. very good idea.

i also intend to invest in a trend fast track sharpener aswell.

anyone on here using a hinge pro?

It looks good, but it's a bit pricy for the average DIYer. What holds the chisel steady as you move the abrasive?

You just put the chisel against the side edge and its steady as anything. It appealed to me as recently i hit a hidden nail meaning i had to grind down a new one.This tool just made it easier to get a good edge back on it quickly.

Sure its not cheap but worth it if it saves you time when using tools for a living.

that fast track thing can be got of ebay for about £40 ish. cracking idea.

for me i used to every now and then take my chisels to get the edge put back on em like £2 per chisel. if i buy one of them sure its £40 or whatever but its there every time. no need to go take chisels away and wait while they get fixed up.

Thought I would bring this one up to poke a few holes in teh useless thing. Pid my near £50 and started working on a couple of old chisels. Completely flat-lined the bases first right up to 1200 grit. Gleaming like a mirror. Started with the coarse diamond first and about 30 seconds in the bl00dy magnet on the 30 degree side fell out. Stuck it back in with mitre bond and carried on.

Not a bad finish so changed diamonds to fine and removed burr etc carried on. OK so far then.

Started to put a bevel edge on with teh other side and KERRANG the magnet split into two. Promptly took it back to shop for near £50 refund. Shop chapperooney says, "cor blimey mate, this must be the 10th one we ave had back in so many months!"

My professional opinion on said piece of crap (IMHO) ... I'll stick to conventional honing. By hand when I've been off the booze and with a guide when I ain't.

C'mon Trend, for what you charge, sort it out. Clearly I'm not the first.

i had one of these for 3months and the nylon runners on the bottom of the carrage fell off :( called Trend today and they have put a new unit in the post to me and i should get it tomorrow. Didnt ask for proof of purchase or anything, just that i send the old one back in the pre-paid bag they will send me!

Excelent customer service i must say!!
