remember you need category E on your license before you can tow anything, if you passed your test before 1997 then you should have it, otherwise it is a separate test

Village Idiot, you are wrong!

You only need Cat E (or B+E) in this case for cars if the trailer is over 750kg, or the combined mass of trailer and car is in excess of 3500kg, or the mass of the trailer does not exceed the mass of the car!!

ie; he can tow a trailer as long as its not over 750kg, or his car and trailer arent over 3500kg!

It also depends on whether the trailer is 'braked' or not.

I stand corrected (well sit corrected  ), I was under the impression cat E covered all trailers
just that used to putting the driver card in every time I drive the pickup

I only know because I fell fowl of it! I was towing a Caravan with my Motocross bike in it, I got pulled over on the way to a race and the kind police officer pointed out to me I was breaking the law! He let me carry on with my journey though! ::b

As for the OP, if you let us know what Ford it is we may be able to help, I had a 2000 Fiesta with a tow bar so they are available!
