I have a friend who is a Gardner and he made a patio for a customer.

The customer is not happy with the end result as not all the slabs are straight and some are slightly different heights. The customer is demanding that the entire patio be removed and redone by butting all the slabs up together so there are no gaps, this is after his wife had agreed for him to fill in the gaps to try and make it look better.

The patio is solid but instead of digging out the ground he made a raised base and no slabs are loose and is very sturdy.

The total cost of the job was around 1200 with around 800 of this being materials this included two very large planters approximately 2m x 1.5m after he paid the person who made these planters and helped him with the patio he has made next to nothing and no contract was in place.

I have no experience with this and what makes a good job etc... there was no contract in place and the customer either want it all redone or all taking up before Christmas so any advice which i could pass on to him would be greatly appreciated.

They paid him £500 up front and are refusing to pay any more or reimburse for the extra cost of materials.

The job is also not yet finished and the customer will not allow him to do anything else other than removing it all and start again.

Many Thanks in advance!

Sounds like he was out of his depth.
