Hi folks,

Hopefully somebody can help me out on this one? I'm painting the exterior of the house. It's fully rendered and has had a few coats of paint in the past. Today I was preparing one of the walls and, as I started to scrape off a bit of loose paint, it became more and more - I ended up with a patch approx. 2 foot x 2 foot where the paint layers came off down to the render.

I applied some stabilising solution to this patch then, once dry, gave the wall one coat of paint. It looks really unsightly now. You can see the step from where the paint has come off.

What will be my best option so I don't see the step? I've thought of sanding the edges down to feather these into the render but thought I could end up sanding into the render too? Or is it possible to fill this patch then paint again?

Any ideas much appreciated :)

It's a common one.

Sanding won't remove the obvious and filling could be even worse.

I don't know the answer but at the end of the day you've made good and your not a magician. It's not your fault that the problems are there, it's just what's the best I can do with this situation.

Be nice yo hear if anyone has a cure.
