Hi guys first post any help or info would be greatly appreciated, the above boiler is 12 years old and recently the flame sensor has been locking out, normally this happens when there is carbon on it and wiping it off and resetting sorts it, but its been locking out and there is no carbon on it, called an oil service engineer out who i thought had fixed it, the boiler isnt locking out now but there is heavy smoke at the chimney flue, called him this morning and he says he didnt service it just cleaned it and that the boiler is broken !!! and he is not up for trying to fix it !!! happy to put a new unit in i presume he means a new boiler

So questions are is this a normal life expectancy for one of these

any thoughts on the symptoms
