Hi,

We've got a mixer tap on the bath which has been dripping.

I removed the cartridge today but noticed the red washer has some kind of metal ring around the internal diameter. Any ideas where to buy these?

I ended up turning the washer upside down and it's stopped for now.

Thanks

A picture would help but the inner ring is probably just to strengthen the washer

Your picture is of the replacement parts for a ceramic disc cartridge (or in this case two ceramic disk cartridges, hot and cold). IF the picture is the same as your parts, it will mean your tap turns just one quarter of a turn (rather than the multiple turns needed with a traditional tap).

The white things are the ceramic discs; when you turn the tap, the holes align and let water through. The red/blue things are to retain the discs in the cartridge, and also act as gaskets to seal with the tap seat (like a traditional washer would). The black O-ring is to seal the cartridge in the tap body.

I can't see the metal inner you were talking about in the OP, so I'm just having to assume you have chosen a suitable picture. However the red/blue gaskets are often soft silicone things and so can indeed have a metal (or plastic) strengthening ring inside. They are commonly available from plumbing merchants, Amazon etc.. Though sizes can vary..

Cheers Kevin, spot on with all of it.

Hadn't considered the quarter turn thing. :thumbright:
