Okay strange problem that I can not work out so need some real expert advice please,

My boiler has trouble firing up the pilot can clearly hear the spark clicking but the pilot light can take forever to I have in the past removed and cleaned the pilot light gas jet and this does have good results at first but that only seems to solve the problem for a short period before it comes back. Should I clean it more aggressively (don't want to spoil the fine jet holes) or will buying a new one help or is it something else I should be looking at?

Whilst waiting for an expert, consider not just the pilot but the ignitor and the gap between it and the pilot jet! 2 to 4 mm.
