I was going to suggest you keep it as the usual excuse for not going to school/work/whatever (not as if you southerners don't know how to do that of course  ).

Up here we use it to line our coats and keep warm......

Started around 8am I think here in Essex and it has been steadily falling ever since. We got in about 2pm last night so when I got up at 9 and was a bit shocked. The car temperature showed 1 degree last night but it was dry and the roads were good. It looks very picturesque and thankfully we do not have to go out so no pressure.

The forecast shows it turning to rain later as it warms up. We will see.

Just looked through my photos, last significant snow pics I have from here were 2013. But still not very much.

It is windy though. :-)

I just looked at Google Maps. We have our phones switched to get traffic on teh maps and it shows all jams as red lines. This morning every road was red and some black, which I have never seen before, that must mean an engines off standstill. My son's friends were taking their kids to Harry Potter World in Watford. They are stuck on the M25 and we have seen the photos of the jam on Wazup. Apparently it had not started snowing when they set out. The kids will be so upset if they cannot get there but I think the traffic is easing now.

The roads were all gritted and I put this down to idiots who have no idea how to drive in snow. I remember couple of years ago a fat lump in a Fiesta who had a fag in her mouth, a phone at her ear went into a spin on ice and nearly hit me. She bumped into the kerb and stopped and sat cackling into her phone. I naturally hurled abuse at her.

My place (internally) rarely drops below +18C - the cats don't like it when we let the temperature drop below +20C

Our heating is entirely from our wood stove - it's on 24/7 lately but since the fuel costs us £50/year......... meh....

We don't get much down here, but when we do it can be quite a lot, and cold too!
Early 1987 we were coming home in the afternoon when the snow started. We were in the Land Rover so no problems. About 4" by then IIRC. Easy driving. Fresh snow. Got to a bit of a dip in the road, and there was a chap stuck across the road. I stopped, and he asked if I could tow him out, I said I would, but that he wasn't stuck. Second gear and a light touch and he'd pull out. He couldn't do it. Wheels spinning etc. Said something like "It's alright for you you've got a Landy etc. I asked him of he minded if I tried, he said no a bit sort of smug like, and I got in and literally just drove it out to the top of the dip. Missus followed in the Landy.
I don't reckon I'm anything special driving wise, but people just don't know how to drive.

You can say that again.

This morning I walked to a local well known shop, and this lady was trying to get out of the car park (slight incline) she asked me if I would help. (Her wheels were spinning) I said "Yes, put it in reverse go back a bit, then go forward" she did and off she drove, not so much as toot or wave
