Hello I'm hoping someone can help

I have a pretty basic gas hob that has started making a clicking / switching sound when the gas is put out. It's not the ignition click you get when firing up the gas. It sounds like a circuit breaker kind of click.

It happens about 30 seconds after the gas has gone out.

Any clues??

That's just the thermal gas valve closing - the one that cuts off the gas in the event of a flame-out.

The hob is one of those push down and turn to ignite. It only started after I turned the hob switch off for 4 days to go on holiday. When I got home and turned it back on I noticed it happening 30 secs after turning the gas off. Very strange.... Unless I just never noticed before

Regards

Common feature on gas hobs now (mandatory maybe?). It might just be the noise has got a little louder over time. When our hob was new the click was very soft, over the years it has got louder and more "clangy".
