We have a lamp with an old style 2 amp round pin plug (really small, says BS 546 on it). Can we simply cut it off and rewire the lamp to a standard UK plug? Would we choose a 3 amp fuse?

Yes you can replace the plug. A 3A fuse will be fine.

Thank you. Does it have to be 3amp? The only plug I can find has a 13 amp fuse - is that ok?

Ok I did it! Bought a 3 amp fuse, rewired the plug and now the lamp works. Honestly never been so proud of anything in my life! Thanks for your help.
